Laurens Holmes, University of Delaware
Professor Laurens Holmes, Jr., Board Certified Public Health; Fellow American College of Epidemiology. He did doctoral training in cancer epidemiology and biostatistics. He also received specialized medical training in immunology and infectious disease (internal medicine). His contribution to cancer epidemiology focused on hormonally-related malignancies especially prostate cancer and the effectiveness of androgen deprivation therapy. His current involvement in cancer carcinogenesis is on the implication of high glycemic index carbohydrates in cancer development and progression. Professor Holmes has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and has served as a reviewer for several cancer, epidemiology and public health journals. He is currently the Director of cancer disparities science research where he also directs pre-doctoral and post- doctoral fellowship program in pediatric cancer disparities science.
