Biography :  

Dr. Zahida Khan is a faculty member in the Departments of Pediatrics, Pathology, and McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine. She is also an Attending Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Simmons College in Boston with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Dr. Khan earned combined MD/PhD degrees from the University of Pittsburgh’s Medical Scientist Training Program. She also obtained a graduate certificate in Cellular Approaches to Tissue Engineering and Regeneration. Dr. Khan completed Pediatrics residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and Gastroenterology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include liver stem cells and regeneration in alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. Her clinical interests include pediatric transplant hepatology and liver cell transplantation. Her long-term goals are to develop cellular and molecular therapies for pediatric metabolic liver diseases.
